Vailhalen Gets Costumed Up for 'Pop Violence'

Published: 2005-08-04
With a spiffy new redesign over at Vailhalen.com, the Calgary collective has definitely got the ball rolling. The band's first full-length album, released to the world in August under the name Pop Violence, comes with 13 tracks. On top of that, Vailhalen is already planning its second disc, tentatively titled The Owls of Getchu.

Opting to do things in a rather unusual way, Vailhalen will celebrate the release of Pop Violence with a two-part CD release party. Going down at Calgary's Broken City on September 16th, Part 1 is an "aerobic/fitness theme costume party." Those with a fear of spandex can brave Part 2, a "sci-fi/space adventure theme party," on the following day.

Here are the tracks of Pop Violence:

"Awake in Flight"
"Bones of the Dead"
"The General"
"Take on Me"
"Moodkiller"
"Girls Fight"
"Angry Mothers"
"Was It a Fix?"
"We Fill the Cracks"
"Tiny Frequencies"
"Pop Violence"
"Lost Our Sound, Reply, Return"
"Love's a Home"

Band leader Chris Vail and his cronies will be sticking pretty close to home for the next month, but check their MySpace site at myspace.com/vailhalen for a previously promised Canadian tour. It's also possible to listen to three full-length tracks from Pop Violence once there, should a person so fancy.

Who wears incredibly tight and tiny short shorts?
