Canadian Country Music Awards Nominees Announced

Published: 2005-08-04
Taking place in Canada's country heart, the Canadian Country Music Awards will go down September 12th at Calgary's Saddledome. The CCMAs honour the best country artists that the world has to offer, and Canada has no short supply.

Alberta native Paul Brandt is hosting the show and happens to have a good chunk of the nominations as well. Brandt has the nod for Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and Male Artist of the Year. It's safe to say that September 12th will be Brandt's night.

Also making a good showing is country supergroup the Road Hammers, up for Album, Single, and Video of the Year. There's also a section of the CCMAs for independent artists, with Beverly Mahood, Poverty Plainsmen, and the Corb Lund Band up for statues.

Catch all the action of the 2005 Canadian Country Music Awards as the September 12th ceremonies are broadcast live from Calgary on CBC at 8pm ET (later re-aired on CMT). Those from Canada's much hotter, more tanned twin of Australia can spot countryman Keith Urban on CMC.

Tickets for the Calgary ceremonies are available through Ticketmaster for about $20-$55. For a full list of nominees, including industry awards, for the 2005 CCMAs, go to
