Doors Drummer Wins Court Battle

Published: 2005-07-26
The battle for Doors integrity between former drummer John Densmore and his old bandmates, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, has been a long and well-documented one. Recently, Densmore, along with the estate of the late Jim Morrison, had a major victory.

Densmore recently won a court battle that prevents Manzerk and Krieger touring under the name Doors of the 21st Century, which they've been doing since 2003. Under the ruling the band will also have to hand over profits from their recent tours to Densmore and the Morrison estate (which is comprised of the parents of both Morrison and his common-law wife Pamela Courson).

The newly named D21C, which includes Cult singer Ian Astbury on lead, is currently touring across Canada. Jim Morrison, the enigmatic lead singer of the Doors, died in Paris in 1971 of apparent heart failure.
