Devendra Banhart Loves His Animals

Published: 2005-07-25
Leader of the neo-folk hippie movement, Devendra Banhart, will re-enter the global music consciousness this fall with the release of the singer/songwriter's fourth full-length this fall. Coming with the obligatory animal-inspired title of Cripple Crow, the album is due to hit stores on September 13th.

Reportedly taking Banhart even farther in his musical experimentation, lyrically, musically, and vocally, Cripple Crow still holds the musician in the lo-fi acoustic folk vein. Those who want to make sure Banhart hasn't headed off on some bizarre tangent with their own ears can sample the album at www.xlrecordings.com.

Although he's been kicking around for a while, Banhart was brought to international attention with the release of his two 2004 albums, Rejoicing in the Hands and Nino Rojo. He's currently taking his act across Europe, but word has it he'll do the same for North America later this year.
