Based around a family of superheroes, the movie Sky High looks like it'll be a little cheesy. What better-fitting soundtrack for such a film, then, than one that features current artists, from Bowling for Soup to Elefant, remaking some hits from the cheesiest decade of them allóthe '80s.
To be released next Tuesday, July 26th, the Sky High soundtrack comes with 11 cover tracks, including new versions of Devo's "Through Being Cool" and Modern English's "Melt with You." It doesn't stop there, oh no. The English Beat's "Save It for Later" makes an appearance, as does the Smiths' "Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want."
The full effect of Sky High's '80s obsession looks like this:
"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" - Christian Burns
"Save It for Later" - Flashlight Brown
"Can't Stop the World" - Ginger Reyes
"Melt with You" - Bowling for Soup
"Lies" - The Click 5
"Through Being Cool" - They Might Be Giants
"True" - Cary Brothers
"Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want" - Elefant
"And She Was" - Keaton Simons
"Just What I Needed" - Caleigh Peters
"One Thing Leads to Another" - Steven Straight
The feature film Sky High, starring Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston, opens in theatres on July 29th.
