Gram Parsons Catches Rhino's Eye

Published: 2005-07-21
The good folks at Rhino Records seemed to have stepped it up a notch this year, reissuing and boxing up what seems like an endless list of artists. Like the Ramones and Yes, the man credited with creating country-rock, Gram Parsons, will get the treatment from the American label.

Parsons's life work will come packaged in a three-disc set called The Complete Reprise Sessions on August 22nd. The set will include both of the singer-songwriter's solo albums, GP and Grievous Angel, alongside alternate takes and interview recordings.

His life and death were equally legendary (look it up, if you're unaware), but Gram Parsons's legacy is the music he created. A solo artist, member of the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers, singing partner to Emmylou Harris, and pal to Keith Richards, Parsons died of a drug overdose a few months before his 27th birthday on September 19th, 1973.

The elusive track list of The Complete Reprise Sessions:

Disc one:
"Still Feeling Blue"
"We'll Sweep Out the Ashes in the Morning"
"A Song for You"
"Streets of Baltimore"
"That's All It Took"
"The New Soft Shoe"
"Kiss the Children"
"Cry One More Time"
"How Much I've Lied"
"Big Mouth Blues"
