Queen Sets Guinness Record

According to the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and Albums, legendary British rock quartet Queen has surpassed the Beatles and Elvis Presley as the leading musical act that has spent the longest time on the British album charts. Book editor David Roberts issued a statement recently saying, "Given that Queen's chart career has been much shorter than those of the Beatles and Elvis, this is an incredible achievement and serves to cement their legendary status."

Queen has spent 1,322 weeks on the British charts, compared to the Beatles' 1,293 weeks and Elvis Presley's 1,280 weeks. The band, whose hits include 1975's Bohemian Rhapsody and 1980's "Another One Bites The Dust," recently reunited with guest singers Paul Rodgers, formerly of Bad Company and Free and Justin Harkins of The Darkness who will be playing with the band for their final gig of their European tour this week.
Original vocalist Freddie Mercury died in 1991 from AIDS-related illnesses.
