The Cape May Avoid Their Curse

Published: 2005-07-05
Taking their debut album Central City May Rise on a trip around Western Canada, Calgary quartet the Cape May continue to fight their famous curse. Hopefully nothing horrible will befall the band as they make their way through the mountains towards the coast.

Before they hit Victoria though, the Cape May will open a show for East Coast buzz-band Wintersleep in Jasper tonight (July 5th). Once they make the rounds by the Pacific, the indie rock four-piece will head home for a string of shows in Calgary and Edmonton. Released in January 2004, Central City May Rise took form in a recording studio found in Vancouver. After three months of hard work, a shattered finger, burglaries, torn ligament, a member hit by a drunk driver, and erased master tapes, the 11-track album finally came to life, which resulted in Cape May's criss-crossing Canada ever since then.
