Canada's been getting a lot of flack lately from her Live 8 friends for the lineup of the July 2nd concert in Barrie, Ontario. Here's to getting the last laugh, for legendary rocker Neil Young has been confirmed to close out the show. It will be one of his first appearances since suffering a brain aneurysm this spring.
In other Live 8 news, mega record company EMI has secured the rights to release DVDs of the events. The plan is to tailor a DVD to each region hosting a Live 8 concert, which now amounts to ten host cities: London, Edinburgh, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Philadelphia, Barrie, Tokyo, Johannesburg, and Moscow.
Moscow is the latest to join the roster, with news of the Red Square concert coming just this week. With only three days until Live 8 hits the air, the lineup has yet to be confirmed, but the Pet Shop Boys are among those who have signed on.
For a full listing of who will play where, go to the official Live 8 site at www.live8live.com. The Live 8 concerts aim to raise awareness about debt, aid, and trade issues in the developing world and put pressure on rich countries to address them.
