Jet Added to Canada's Live 8

Australia band Jet, whose hits include "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and
"Look What You've Done," have been added to the Canadian edition of Live 8
taking place July 2 in Barrie, Ontario, north of Toronto. Organizers are hoping this will help to combat criticisms that the Canadian Live 8 line up is made up of a bunch of has-beens.

Since the concert line up was announced, critics have panned the event for the lack of youthful and relevant artists performing. Larry LeBlanc of Billboard magazine dismissed the roster as a "back to the future" lineup saying, "It's woefully out of touch with what's going on in today's music in Canada. Where is Nickelback, where is Feist, where is Death From Above 1979, where is Arcade Fire?"

Along with Jet, the concert event will feature such artists as Bryan Adams, Our Lady Peace, Motley Crue, Simple Plan, Deep Purple, The Tragically Hip and many more. Around 35,000 tickets for the show sold out last Thursday morning in just twenty-one minutes.

Meanwhile, Jet has been currently working on their next album and will be getting back to finishing it after the concert event. Possible titles for the album are Straight From the Heartthrob, Radical Sabbatical, or Get Bored.

Neil Young just got on board. That's sweet. I knew he would. It wouldn't be a Canadian Live 8 without him.

WHo is Billboard magazine to criticize the lineup? This is about raising Awareness in poor countries. Magazines like billboard just wanna cash in on the action. To them is just about the music. To most Cdn's hopefully, it will be much more.
