Hendrix Documentary Hits DVD

Published: 2005-06-24
Next Tuesday the 1973 documentary Jimi Hendrix will become available on that new-fangled medium we like to call the DVD. Footage of the incomparable Hendrix performing is mixed with interviews with the likes of Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, and Lou Reed.

Created three years after Hendrix's death in 1970 at the age of 27, Jimi Hendrix was an authorized documentary, and as such comes with some amazing concert footage. From "Hey Joe" on the Ready, Steady, Go TV show to his version of the "Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock, it's got the performances most music fans should know.

Next to the clips of other famous musicians in the doc, Hendrix himself is also interviewed, as are his father, old girlfriends, and road managers. The DVD also houses the obligatory spot of bonus footage, including a previously unreleased performance at the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival.
