Strokes Reveal More About Third LP

Published: 2005-06-23
In an excruciatingly slow trickle, the Strokes are leaking bits of information to music mags about what to expect in their upcoming third studio album. Although the record still lacks a title, the New York five-piece has promised it will drop early next year, with the first single out this fall.

In a recent interview with NME, drummer Fab Moretti revealed that the band felt more relaxed recording this album than doing 2003's Room on Fire. "Instead of using the money they [the label] were going to give us to make the third record at a studio, we just bought our equipment and now we have it permanently and we don't feel that guillotine falling," he said. "It really helps us to explore."

The album will reportedly carry a brand new sound from the garage rockers, thanks in part to new producer David Kahne (the Bangles, Sublime, Steriogram). The best, yet least informative, droplet about the new record comes from vocalist Julian Casablancas in an interview with Rolling Stone: "It's like a seedless watermelonóI like it."
