Already a star in her native Australia, singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will try her hand at winning over North American audiences this summer. Her debut full-length, The Sound of White, just received domestic release on June 7th.
Higgins getting a chance to push the album at the Austin City Limits festival at the end of September. Before that though, she'll have to do it the hard way, touring the United States with Maine singer Howie Day. Of the fourteen North American dates in her future, just one will fall on Canadian soil. Leaving Day behind for a night, Higgins will play Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on July 19th for a headlining slot.
After opting to spend 2002 backpacking around Europe instead of hunting for a record label, Higgins found herself with a deal anywayóWarner Brothers signed her up for international release. It definitely worked out for the singer, as The Sound of White hit number one on the charts in Australia, selling six times platinum to date.
