Supergrass Sets Date for 'Rouen'

Published: 2005-06-21
Stalwart Britpop group Supergrass has put a name and release date on its first studio album in three years. Being released internationally on August 15th through Parlophone, Road to Rouen will reportedly take the Oxford band's sound in a new direction.

Word has it that the record has a more mellow feel than some of Supergrass's previous work, and features the often passed-over sounds of ukulele and zither, with some brass and strings thrown in. "St. Petersburg" will be the first single lifted from the album, due in stores in early August.

Road to Rouen will be Supergrass' fifth full-length and the follow-up to 2002's Life on Other Planets. The most recent release from the trio came in the form of a CD/DVD career retrospective in 2004 called Supergrass is 10: The Best of 1994-2004.
