Depeche Mode Set to Return With New Album, Tour

Published: 2005-06-20
British electronic rock act Depeche Mode is planning to release its first new album in four years this fall followed by a North American tour that will run from October to December. A European tour will begin January 13th in Dresden, Germany, running until an April 3rd show in London.

Ben Hillier (Doves, Blur) will co-produce the new album, the follow up to 2001's Excite, which debuted at number eight on the Billboard chart. In 2003, band members David Gahan and Martin Gore each released solo discs, and last year Depeche Mode issued a remix compilation of all its biggest hits.

Depeche Mode formed in England in the early 80s and hit the big time with its 1990 album, Violator, which contained the hit "Personal Jesus."
