Billy Talent kicked off the biggest party of the year in Toronto last night as MuchMusic handed out its 2005 Video Awards to some of Canada's most successful musical acts. The man of the night was k-os, who pulled off a spectacular performance and came out with a slew of awards, including Best Director and Best Cinematography.

The most talked about MMVA 2005 performance came from Montreal-scene leaders the Arcade Fire, who after winning over critics round the globe, won over the audience as well. An unplanned moment that will have MuchMusic fans gossiping came on the red carpet when Backstreet Boy Brian Littrel revealed veteran MuchMusic VJ Rick Campanelli recently became a father.

MMVAs went on to mix mainstream and indie artists throughout the night, including everyone from Death From Above 1979 (the VideoFact Award) to Billy Talent (Best Video) to Shania Twain (the MuchMoreMusic Award). For a full list of MMVA 2005 winners, go to

Those who missed the show will be able to catch it and the red carpet pre-show on MuchMusic on one of the many, many encore broadcasts this week.
