Three Gut Records Calls It Quits

Published: 2005-06-16
After five years of nurturing and releasing some of the best music Canada has to offer the world, Toronto-based indie label Three Gut Records is throwing in the towel. Home to the likes of Sea Snakes, Oneida, Gentlemen Reg, Cuff the Duke, Jim Guthrie, and current Canadian heat-seekers the Constantines, TGR will be missed.

The Constantines' upcoming album, Tournament of Hearts, will be the very last official release for Three Gut. Making the announcement through, co-founder Lisa Moran had words of thanks for everyone that ever helped TGR along the way:

"There was never a master plan for Three Gut. Which I suppose is our greatest strength and weakness all wrapped up in one! There is no real long-winded reason [for ceasing operations]. It just feels like it's time to move on. We really succeeded so early on with our goal to get people out to our friends' shows and let them hear the music that we loved so much. It turned out doing that was really funóso we kept at it.

"The label was never just one or two peopleóit was always the bands and the people around us who helped with so much... We were blessed from day one with a level of support I didn't know could exist."
