The Who Scheduled to Perform at Live 8

Published: 2005-06-15
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are getting together for the first time in over a year to perform at the London edition of Live 8 on July 2nd. They join fellow rock dinosaurs Pink Floyd, who recently decided to reunite for the one-off gig at the London show. Along with Townshend and Daltrey, the new version of The Who features bassist Pino Paladino, keyboardist John Bundrick, and drummer Zack Starkey. Original members Keith Moon and John Entwistle have passed on.

The band is currently working on a new album entitled Who2, which may be released sometime next year. Pete Townsend is also working on a solo album and an autobiography, and a feature-length documentary about the band, directed by Murray Lerner, is in the works.

The Who also reunited in 1985 to play Live Aid, three years after their first retirement.
