Man Dies at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival

Published: 2005-06-15
Police are awaiting the results of 32-year-old David Ottman's autopsy after the man was found dead at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee on Saturday. Ottman was thought to have died of sleep apnea, a disorder that cuts off a person's oxygen supply when the throat passage becomes too constricted.

At first it was thought Ottman had died of a drug overdose, but a local sheriff confirmed police had found no drugs or paraphernalia at his campsite. Last year two people died from drug overdoses and police issued 132 citations for drug violations at the festival.

Bonnaroo debuted in 2002 and has become the top grossing festival in the United States. This year's performers included the Dave Matthews Band, the Mars Volta, and Modest Mouse, among others.
