JJ72 Readies New Album, Gets Canadian

Published: 2005-06-15
It's been nearly three years since its last album, but Ireland-based trio JJ72 is making its way back into the spotlight in anticipation of the group's third studio album. Currently without a name, the follow-up to 2002's I to Sky will become available this summer through Lakota Records.

Chipmunk-voiced singer Mark Greaney and company are reportedly taking a bit of a new direction with their upcoming release. They've been working with producers Ian Caple, who produced JJ72's self-titled debut, and Joe Baresi, who's worked with L7 and Queens of the Stone Age. Some of the possible song titles include: "Coming Home," "Everything," "Rainfalls," "We'll Wait for You," and "Keep Walking."

According to the band's website (jj72.com), part of the novel sound comes from new bassist Sarah Fox. Replacing original member Hilary Woods in 2003, Fox happens to be Canadian-born and paid her dues in Toronto hard-rock band the Fangs before joining the chart-topping JJ72.

JJ72 recently wrapped a comeback tour of the UK, its first live shows in over a year. The group plans to hit the summer festival circuit and are coordinating another big tour of Britain for the fall. No word on when they plan to visit Sarah Fox's home and native land.
