Green Day Added to Live 8 in Berlin

Published: 2005-06-14
According to Green Day's official website, the band will be playing Live 8 in Berlin on July 2nd. The concert takes place at the Brandenburg Gate and features performances from Lauryn Hill, Crosby Stills and Nash, Beach Boy Brian Wilson, A-ha, and Die Toten Hosen, among others.

The show will coincide with concerts in London, Philadelphia, Rome, and Paris. Another show in Edinburgh on July 6th will feature such notable acts as Travis, Snow Patrol, and Dido. Sir Bob Geldof, a driving force behind 1985's Live Aid fundraising concerts, is staging the shows to press G8 leaders to help fight global poverty by increasing aid, cancelling debt, and making trade fair.

Green Day is currently on tour in Europe in support of its critically and commercially successful 2004 album, American Idiot.
