British group Duran Duran plans to start work on a new album this summer, with hopes of a summer 2006 release. The band is already discussing who should produce the album, and Dallas Austin, who worked on Duran Duran's 2004 album, Astronaut, leads the pack.
Duran Duran has been touring most of this year and is set to headline the Rome show for Bob Geldof's Live 8 event on July 2nd. The band was one of the main performers at Geldof's Live Aid twenty years ago, which raised awareness and funds for famine relief in Africa.
The band's last album hit number one on the Billboard dance chart and debuted at number three in the UK and number seventeen in the US.
