Idlewild's Latest Gets American Release

Published: 2005-06-09
Released way back in March everywhere in the world except North America, Idlewild's latest disc, Warnings/Promises, has finally been given the go ahead by Capitol Records. Currently available in Canada only as a ridiculously expensive import, the record appears in a domestic version come August 16th.

For its fifth full-length album, the Scottish five-piece ventured all the way to California to record with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, the Thrills, Air). With a few tracks taking them from their current soft rock sound back to their punk roots, Warnings/Promises has received mixed reviews. The record did, however, enter the UK album charts at number nine.

The band has announced no North American tour plans as of yet. Idlewild will be spending the summer on the festival circuit and opening for the likes of U2 and REM. Although they've failed to break America after a decade, odds are Idlewild will return to this continent for another crack. Go to for constant updates.

Here's the track list of Warnings/Promises:

"Love Steals Us from Loneliness"
"Welcome Home"
"I Want a Warning"
"I Understand It"
"As If I Hadn't Slept"
"Too Long Awake"
"Not Just Sometimes But Always"
"The Space Between All Things"
"El Capitan"
"Blame It on Obvious Ways"
