Paul McCartney Writes 'Urban Furry Tale'

Published: 2005-06-02
There's just nothing that Sir Paul McCartney cannot do. Currently recording a new album with plans to tour extensively this summer, the former Beatle recently inked a deal with Penguin Young Readers Group to release his first children's picture book this fall. On shelves October 4th in North America, the book is titled High in the Clouds: An Urban Furry Tale.

With a little help from his friends animator Geoff Dunbar and author Philip Ardagh, McCartney based An Urban Furry Tale on the animated film Tropic Island Hum, which he also helped to create. The book follows the adventures of Wirral the Squirrel, whose beloved home, Animalia, is destroyed by the developers of nearby city Megatropolis.

Coming in at 98 pages, the hardcover edition of An Urban Furry Tale will run at about $30 in Canada. No stranger to cartoon characters, Macca has also worked on animated films including Daumier's Law and Tuesday in addition to Tropic Island Hum.
