Astralwerks Finally 'Frees The Bees' in North America

Published: 2005-06-02
The Isle of Wight duo known simply as The Bees in their native UK released their second full-length, Free The Bees, to much acclaim last summer. There's a never-ending list of amazing albums that never get domestic release in North America, and Free The Bees was one of them. However, that's about to change, as American label Astralwerks Records has picked up the disc.

Complete with bonus tracks, the US version of Free The Bees arrives in stores June 28th. Along with the addition of songs "It Isn't Exact" and "These Are Ghosts (Undead Version)," the band gets a few more words tacked onto its name on this continent, becoming A Band of Bees.

Making an extremely strong debut with their debut album, Sunshine Hit Me, The Bees received a Mercury Prize nomination in 2002 for the effort. Members Paul Fletcher and Aaron Fletcher took a bit of break from creating power pop for the masses before heading to Abbey Road studios to record Free The Bees.
