The Strokes Nearly Done Recording Third LP

Published: 2005-06-02
By way of email, New York five-piece The Strokes have satiated their many fans for at least another few months. Word comes from manager Ryan Gentles that the band has nearly finished recording and will soon be picking and choosing the songs that will eventually end up on the follow-up to Room On Fire.

With 13 songs in consideration, the as-yet-untitled effort is to be mastered and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Jeff Buckley) this summer. According to the email, the record can't be expected any earlier than January 2006, but at least there's now a rough timeframe fans can focus their anticipation on. The first single lifted from the disc will hit sometime this fall.

Gentles also touches on The Strokes' future touring plans, which will include a small club tour in Europe, to "re-introduce the band and preview some songs on the upcoming record." The band also plans at last to tour South America; though Gentles stresses that nothing has been confirmed yet, it looks like it might actually happen this time.
