A Flock of Seagulls Flies Again

Published: 2005-06-01
Rising phoenix-like from the ashes, the members of '80s couple-o-hit wonders A Flock of Seagulls are once again spreading their wings as they continue to tour the continent this summer. Unfortunately for all the Easterners out there, the band will be sticking to the west, playing fairly big venues on the touring flight path.

The four-piece currently has eight dates pencilled into its agenda, kicking things off on June 9th in Washington state. Not forgetting Canada in the slightest, the Flock will make its final three landings north of the 49th parallel in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg.

Second to its members' hair, the Flock is best known for the infectious 1982 hit "I Ran (So Far Away)," heard most recently in a Pepsi commercial. The height of the band's power was in the early '80s, but A Flock of Seagulls has continued to tour (with rotating lineups) ever since then. The last album the group put out was 1996's Light at the End of the World.

Here's where A Flock of Seagulls touches down in Canada on its summer flight:

July 6, Edmonton, AB - Red's
July 7, Calgary, AB - Broken City
July 8, Winnipeg, MB - Collective Cabaret
