Brian Wilson Tours in Summer, Wishes for Winter

Published: 2005-05-20
Former Beach Boy leader Brian Wilson made a smashing comeback last year with the release of the long lost album Smile, and now he hopes to make the holiday season a little merrier with a Christmas album. Due out October 18th, just in time for holiday shopping sprees, the record is called What I Really Want for Christmas.

Wilson produced and arranged the album himself, which features some original tunes as well as Christmas classics. Bernie Taupin, best known as Elton John's long-time collaborator, penned the lyrics for the title track. As he did on Smile, Wilson will resurrect songs from the Beach Boys' past: "Little Saint Nick" and "The Man With All the Toys."

The track list of What I Really Want for Christmas makes you feel all merry inside:

"What I Really Want for Christmas"
"Little Saint Nick"
"The Man With All the Toys"
"The First Noel"
"Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"
"It Came Upon a Midnight Clear"
"Oh Holy Night"
"We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
"Auld Lang Syne"
"Deck the Halls"
"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

Long before the winter holidays, Wilson will embark on a tour of North America. Staking it out during the summer months, the legendary musician will kick off the run on August 9th in Boston after jumping off the European tour circuit. His two scheduled Canadian dates look something like this:

August 18, Montreal, QC - Place des Arts
August 29, Vancouver, BC - Queen Elizabeth Theatre
