LCD Soundsystem and M.I.A. Sell Out

Published: 2005-05-13
Hot on the heels of their eponymous 2005 album, LCD Soundsystem launched a 13-date tour of North America earlier this week. Having kicked things off in Vancouver on Tuesday, they'll make their way down the west coast, and then hop over to the northeast to finish up. They'll end the jaunt with a big bang of a show, performing on Long Island with Pixies and Interpol on June 14th.

The chance for Canadian west coast music fans to check out LCD Soundsystem has already passed. Those who reside in the eastern half of the country, however, still have the opportunityÖ that is, if they can track down a ticket for the sold-out shows. They're playing Toronto's Opera House on May 21st and head on over to Montreal to play Le Tulipe the following day.

Perhaps the biggest reason behind tickets for the gigs disappearing completely is that hot British export M.I.A. will open almost all of the shows, including every one of the stops north of the 49th parallel. The Sri Lankan-born artist's debut disc, Arular, dropped in March 2005, and received heaps of praise before it even touched down.

LCD Soundsystem is heading to the U.K. to play T in the Park in Scotland as well as the Reading and Leeds festivals, and odds are M.I.A. is too. Fans can always fly over there if a ticket for one of the Canadian gigs proves impossible to find.
