Garage Rockers The Vertical Struts to Head East

Published: 2005-05-12
Canada's answer to the White Stripes are taking their brand of garage rock out east this fall. The band is currently touring western Canada and recording a full-length new album. Like Detroit's White Stripes, Edmonton's Vertical Struts play blues-inspired rock using only guitar, drums and voice.

Soul Shine spoke with singer and guitarist Raymond Biesinger recently about the band's upcoming tour plans. "Our current tour will just bring us from Victoria to Saskatoon, but this fall we will be doing the Victoria to Montreal thing, with all stops in between covered." Biesinger then filled us in on the status of the Struts' new disc. "The full length record will be out in late August. And then all will be good."

The Vertical Struts formed in 2001 and are currently signed to Edmonton label Pop Echo Records. Their next show will be in Saskatoon on May 13th at the Bassment. The band will be playing with fellow acts Submission Hold, Billy and the Lost Boys, and Fury & the Mouse.
