Joel Geleynse Wins Toronto's Kingdom Bound Talent Search, Hopes for Finals

Published: 2005-05-10
On April 29th Joel Geleynse won the Toronto area Kingdom Bound talent search that affords the winner an opportunity to advance to the June 11th finals to be held at Canada Christian College. Including Toronto five different regions of the province will be represented. The winner of that round of performances will then have the opportunity to play their music at Six Flags Darien Lake in New York State July 31st to August 3rd.

Geleynse and band performed three songs, There's Been A Change the number two track from the Shai Award nominated album, The Rebellion of Camouflage, Maybe, also from the CD and a new song yet to be recorded, titled Better.

Peppering his conversation with the words "very exciting" Geleynse talked about what an honour it was to advance this far and what an honour it would be to win the finals. He says it would represent "a right of passage to be on the same bill as these other artists that I have a lot of respect for." He said it would also give him the opportunity to "connect with a much larger market," if he is fortunate enough to place first in the finals and perform at Kingdom Bound.

Always grateful and conducting himself with class Geleynse
was quick to compliment the other contestants such as the band Chasing After, Nicole Shin and teen sensation Mandie Alves. The latter is destined to rock the music scene for years to come.

Alves was playing her first ever gig and she already demonstrates poise beyond her years as well as a terrific voice. Geleynse says of Alves, "Mandie has a really great voice and a very bright future." This teen in her first ever gig demonstrated poise beyond her years.
