Franz Ferdinand Make Girls Cry?

Published: 2005-05-04
Making one gigantic splash in 2004 with their self-titled debut, Scottish four-piece Franz Ferdinand are currently working away on their next effort, hoping it will bring the same amount of acclaim. All anyone could say about Franz Ferdinand, and seemed to be the catch-phrase of 2004, was that the album "made girls dance".

Perhaps 2005 will be the year music "made girls cry", because according to a message posted on Franz Ferdinand's official site ( by lead singer Alex Kapranos, that's just the effect band's sophomore effort will have on the female sex. Don't worry though, for the band hasn't turned into heartbroken emo rockers just yet.

The full message reads: "The character of this new record is beginning to take form. I was joking with a friend about how if the last record was music for girls to dance to, this is probably music for girls to cry toat least for them to leak a little tear to while they're dancing."

There's no word on just when the new Franz Ferdinand album can be expected, but some of the songs to be included are: "Wee Andy", "Your Diary", "Evil Heathen", and "I'm Your Villain".
