Dixie Chicks Rope In Rick Rubin

Published: 2005-05-03
According to reports from Billboard.com, superstar country trio The Dixie Chicks have teamed up with well-known producer Rick Rubin for their next studio album. Best known for co-founding Def Jam Records and producing hip hop and hard rock albums, the pairing might seem a bit strange at first.

However, Rubin has spread his talents out across the board, producing albums for everyone from The Bangles to Johnny Cash to Sheryl Crow. This will be the first time The Dixie Chicks have worked with Rubin; for their last album Home, the three-piece took on producing duties themselves.

A projected release date for the next Dixie Chick's album is still unknown, but when it finally makes its way to shelves, the record is certain to be a success. One of the best known contemporary country acts, The Chicks have had massive sales with all of their past three albums: their 1998 debut Wide Open Spaces, 1999's Fly, and Home, released in 2002.

In other Dixie Chicks news, brunette banjo player Emily Robison gave birth to twins on April 14th. Their boy, Henry Benjamin, and girl, Julianna Tex, make three children for the couple, including their firstborn Gus.
