Prepared to pay her dues, Halifax-based singer/songwriter Jill Barber has used her musical skills to land the job of opener for the likes of Joel Plaskett, Kathleen Edwards, and of course, her brother Matthew Barber. Most recently fans saw Barber share the stage with fellow East Coasters In-Flight Safety, and a stint with Joel Kroeker is up next.
Still touring in support of her 6-song Oh Heart EP, which was released in March of last year, Barber will most likely release a full-length one of these days. She doesn't have to be in any rush though as Oh Heart has brought her tons of acclaim on its own, including two nominations at the 2004 ECMAs.
Creating pop rock inspired by ye olde time jazz, Jill Barber originally hailed from the land of Ontario before relocating to Nova Scotia. Once a part of band called Bent Ivy, Barber now does just fine on her own. To find out fine, go to her website at www.jillbarber.com to watch the video for the "Oh Heart" single.
