Slightly Stoopid Celebrate 10 Year Anniversary

Published: 2005-04-27
California act Slightly Stoopid has reached the 10-year mark and to celebrate the band released their 5th album entitled Closer to the Sun last week. The album contains 20 tracks that incorporate elements of hard rock, reggae, hip-hop, blues, and punk rock. For a limited time a free 4-song bonus disc will be included. Closer to the Sun was issued on the band's own label Stoopid Records/Caliplates Recordings in conjunction with Reincarnate/BMG.

Slightly Stoopid was discovered in the mid 90's when the band members were all in high school. The late Bradley Nowell of the band Sublime signed them to his own label Skunk Records in 1995. The band's influences include such artists as the Grateful Dead, Sublime, UB40, Lee Scratch Perry, Bad Religion, and many others. Slightly Stoopid's previous release was 2003's Everything You Need.

The band is currently on the road with Fishbone until June. They also are scheduled to play with the Dave Matthews Band for a couple of shows in August. For more information on the new album and tour visit
