Sting Rocks Out on Latest Tour

Published: 2005-04-25
Sting has been in the music business for almost thirty years and has been influenced by all types of musical genres. The former front man of the legendary rock-reggae act The Police has mellowed over the past decade embracing a more adult contemporary sound.

But on his latest tour, named "The Broken Music Tour", Sting has abandoned his elaborate stage show and large musical backing ensemble for a more stripped down affair. For the first time in years Sting is touring as a four-piece rock band and revisiting many songs from his former band The Police. For an edgier sound Sting recruited Josh Freeze, former drummer for such bands as The Vandals, Guns N' Roses, and A Perfect Circle.

The tour is making stops in towns and cities Sting has never played before as well as college campuses in North America. Last weekend Sting was in London, Ontario, for the first time ever playing in front of a sold-out crowd of 9,250 fans at the John Labatt Centre. The tour stops at the Bryce Jordan Centre at Pennsylvania State University tonight and will be heading to Fairfax, Vermont, on April 27th.
