Lollapalooza 2005 Announces More Bands

Published: 2005-04-25
Last year was a tragic one for Lollapalooza, with the travelling festival falling flat on its face after poor ticket sales led it too its 2004 grave. This year the indie festival will dig its feet into the ground, and occur over just one weekend (July 23 &24) in Chicago's Grant Park. The grounds are still close enough for some Canadians to make their way to Lolla, with the line-up sure to draw a broader audience than last year's offering.

At the top of the 60-band bill are musical giants like Pixies, Weezer, and Dinosaur Jr., with more mainstream acts like The Killers and Dashboard Confessional sitting up high. With tickets costing $85 at the moment, going up by $15 increments as more are sold (hitting $115 at the top), it's a marketing plan that will hopefully get the event sold-out in advance, so there will be no need for more tragic cancellations.

Other notable acts performing at Lollapalooza 2005 include Canada's own indie darlings The Arcade Fire, with Tegan and Sara representing the North as well. Buzz-worthy British bands Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs will play alongside a veritable army of New York acts, including The Bravery, The Walkmen, Ambulance LTD, and Blonde Redhead.

Any day now, a full schedule of what bands will be rocking out on which days will become available at www.lollapalooza.com, for all those wondering.

No travelling show this year?!?!? How about a Darien Lake show? Come on...it's a guaranteed sellout.
