Coldplay Surprise North America with 'Buzz Gigs'

Published: 2005-04-25
North America has been waited with baited breath for news of Coldplay's return to the continent's touring circuit. The British quartet's plans for North America have finally been announced, but they're a little off from what many people were probably expecting from the international superstars.

Instead of playing large stadiums, which Coldplay have become accustomed to performing in to accommodate their many fans, the four-piece are going to opt for something off the beaten path this time around. As a warm-up tour of sorts for their upcoming third album, X&Y, Coldplay will do a series of club dates around the continent, giving fans a rare chance to get up close and personal.

The first of these "buzz gigs" has been set for Toronto on May 11th, at the Kool Haus. Tickets for the event went on sale last Friday (April 22nd) at 10am, just one day after the gig was announced, and unsurprisingly, Ticketmaster claimed it was sold out in 30 seconds. More "buzz gigs" have been promised on Coldplay's website, so check back to frequently to see if Canada scores anymore visits from the boys before they launch a full-fledged tour of the continent.
