Lifeson Receives No Jail Time

Published: 2005-04-22
Lead guitarist for Rush, Alex Lifeson, and his son Justin will not go to jail for an argument that occurred on New Year's Eve 2003 in Naples, Florida between Lifeson and the Collier County sheriff's deputies.

Justin and his friends allegedly disturbed hotel security when they jumped up on stage after the house band at the New Year's Eve party had left the stage. Justin was escorted out of the hotel while Alex tried to "intervene" according to local deputies and was further accused of pushing a female officer down a stairwell and spitting in another deputy's face.

The charges of resisting arrest without violence has given Alex and Justin a 12 month probation period and pay court costs. The charges were reduced to misdemeanors from felonies, which would have resulted in the men going to prison.
