The London, Ontario, quartet formerly known as Popjoy are starting fresh under a shiny new name: The Joys. The pop-rock band are set to release a demo album called Demolition Sessions on May 19th, with a celebration of the new disc going down in Toronto that night at the Bovine Sex Club.
The Joys begin a four-day residency tomorrow in Geraldton, Ontario. For the rest of April and most of May, they are touring Ontario, fitting in a three-day stint in Winnipeg May 4th, 6th, and 7th. For updates on The Joys' whereabouts, visit www.thejoys.ca.
Led by lead singer Sarah Smith (who is the only remaining member of Popjoy), The Joys/Popjoy have been kicking around the Ontario music scene for a few years, but Demolition Sessions is their first album. Recorded live in the studio, the album features nine tracks from the pop rockers, which can be sampled at their official site.
