Depeche Mode Back in the Studio

Published: 2005-04-15
Classic '80s band, Depeche Mode is back in the studio working on what will be their second original release of the new millennium. They've locked themselves in a Santa Barbara, California, recording studio with hopes of completing the follow-up to 2001's Exciter for release this fall.

Along with Ben Hillier (known for his work with Elbow, Blur, and on Doves' most recent Some Cities), Depeche Mode are co-producing the as-yet-untitled effort. Singer Dave Gahan says "It's a great feeling to be back together in the studio again and we are very excited about the new material. We are all feeling incredibly positive about the album. Ben Hillier has brought a whole new dynamic to the group which is quite inspiring."

Gaining Depeche Mode great reviews all around, Exciter was the British band's tenth studio album, which will make the new one their eleventh. The last release from DM came in the form of a remix CD called Remixes 81-04, released in 2004, which has already sold over 1 million copies around the globe.
