After more than 10 years together, Scottish band The Delgados announced their plans to put the band to rest last week. The four members parted on good terms, and the final decision to disband came after bass player Stewart Henderson let it be known he didn't wish to make another album with The Delgados.

The official statement released by the band (found at explains that without all its original members The Delgados just wouldn't be The Delgados: "The Delgados have always been known as uniquely collaborative songwriters and as such, it was decided that the band could not continue without all of its original members."

"We would especially like to thank all of our fans for your wonderful support. Don't be too upset everyone...get a massive carry out, turn the stereo up and play your albums at full volume," the message continued.

Formed in Glasgow in 1994, The Delgados recorded, mixed, and mastered five studio albums to leave to their legacy. The most recent record put out by the band was last year's "Universal Audio", released through the band's own Chemikal Underground records, which all four members will continue to run together.

Not yet down with the music world, vocalists/guitarists/songwriters Emma Pollock and Alun Woodward are set to continue on with solo projects, and drummer Paul Savage will head up production at The Delgado's Chem19 Studios.
