Built To Spill Plan New Album for Fall

Published: 2005-04-08
Heroes of the '90s indie rock scene, Built To Spill, have taken up residence in a recording studio to get down to business and record a follow-up to 2001's "Ancient Melodies of the Future". The American alt-rockers are currently mixing the as-yet-untitled album, and hope to have it done and ready for release sometime later this fall.

According to reports released by the band's label (that'd be Warner Brothers Records) Built To Spill are co-producing the effort alongside people known only as "Steve + Jake". With singer/guitarist/mastermind Doug Martsch at the helm, Built To Spill have been spending upwards of 12 hours in the studio, laying down tracks that have titles like "Traces", "Liar", and "Conventional Wisdom", and are reportedly good old fashioned rockers.

Not only will Built To Spill please their many fans with a new album this year, but the band also have a tour of the East Coast and Midwest lined-up for May, and plans to head to the West Coast this summer. Unfortunately there are no Canadian stops scheduled, but they will hit New York City for three nights, and Detroit for one. Check the band's official web site, www.builttospill.com, for a complete list of tour dates.
