Billy Corgan Finds 'The Future' Alone

Published: 2005-04-04
He made it big with The Smashing Pumpkins, took a bit of a nosedive with Zwan, put out a book of poetry, and now Billy Corgan is all set to try out a solo career. The product of this foray, Corgan's debut solo album, is called "TheFutureEmbrace", and is due for release on June 21st. Following the release of the effort, which the singer co-produced, Corgan plans to embark on a world tour.

Housing 12 songs, "TheFutureEmbrace" packs star power above and beyond Corgan himself. The Cure's Robert Smith provided backing vocals on a cover of the Bee Gee's tune "To Love Somebody", and Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin added his skills to "DIA". The first single lifted from the album is a track called "Walking Shade".

Speaking to Billboard.com, Corgan explained that "TheFutureEmbrace" will not be a carbon copy of his previous work. "Many people assume when I do more progressive work that I am trying to move away from something, when honestly what I am trying to do is get closer to who I really am," explained Corgan.

The track-listing of "TheFutureEmbrace" is:

"All Things Change"
"Mina Loy (M.O.H.)"
"TheCameraEye"
"To Love Somebody"
"A100"
"DIA"
"Now (And Then)"
"I'm Ready"
"Walking Shade"
"Sorrows (in blue)"
"Pretty, pretty STAR"
"Strayz"
