Crowded House Drummer Paul Hester Commits Suicide

Published: 2005-03-28
This past Saturday, Paul Hester, who was one of the initial founding members of the pop/rock group Crowded House died by his own hand. Reports say he had been walking his dogs last Friday near his Melbourne home and was reported missing when he failed to return. Crowded House singer, Neil Finn, told The Daily Telegraph recently, "I have lost one of my best mates."

After forming Crowded House in 1985 with Finn and bass player Nick Seymour, Hester had been a very involved member of society in Australia after leaving the band in 1994. He was heard on Australia's ABC network radio, on TV, and even opened a tea house on Elwood Beach.

Paul Hester was 46 years old.
