Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Usher Win Big at NAACP Image Awards

This past Saturday, the 36th annual NAACP Image Awards were handed out in Los Angeles. Winners included the likes of Alicia Keys, Usher, and Kanye West. Keys won for "Outstanding Song of the Year" and "Outstanding Video of the Year". West went home with "Outstanding New Artist", and Usher jumped on stage to receive "Best Male Artist" for his work on his latest album, "Confessions". Making a comeback, Prince won for "Outstanding Album of the Year" for his "Musicology" CD and was honoured with the Vanguard Award, which is given to an individual whose groundbreaking work increases awareness of social and racial issues.

Reports have Kanye West noting the importance of the NAACP honours: "I think this is where they really recognize our positive role models, or we recognize our positive role models. And it's good for black people to hold up other black people. Because as you know, a lot of us come from homes where they say, 'Your daddy wasn't nothing so you ain't gonna be nothin'.' So to break through that and break through the cycles and have something that represents something so positive, it's very important to be a part of it."

The show will be broadcast March 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
