The SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, has been the place where many bands have found their big break. That's why Southern Ontario act The Fullblast should be ecstatic that they're heading down to the huge industry event later this week. The punk rock quartet landed a spot in the Mountain Dew/Alternative Press showcase alongside Hawthorne Heights by taking first place in the "Showcase Your Band" contest.
The Fullblast submitted their song "Prison Tats" from their upcoming debut album to the competition, and proceeded to beat out literally thousands of other bands for the much sought after SXSW slot. Not only will the rockers be heading down to the toasty south this March, but they're in the midst of a cross-Canada tour with Alexisonfire and Rise Against.
There are 13 more shows for The Fullblast's coming up, but unfortunately they've had to cancel their two New Brunswick gigs due to a change in flight plans (thanks to the Jetsgo fiasco) to get them down to Texas for the 18th. In addition to tagging along with the aforementioned acts, The Fullblast also have a headlining show lined up for April 10th in Thunder Bay.
