U2 Inducted into Rock & Rock Hall of Fame, Start Clothing Line

Published: 2005-03-15
New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel was packed with the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, and John Mayer for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 20th anniversary, and the 50th anniversary of rock music to boot. U2 was inducted into the hall of fame by The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen said of U2, "[They're] a step forward and direct descendants of bands who thought they could shake up the worldÖThis was a band that wanted to lay claim to this world and the next one, too."

In other U2 news, Bono has developed a new humanitarian clothing line with his wife, Ali Hewson, and fashion designer Rogan Gregory. The line of clothing, Edun, is made to be environmentally friendly and provide stable manufacturing factories in third world countries that pay fair wages and reject child labour.
