Mark Schultz Strikes a Chord with 'Letters from War'

The affecting video for American singer/songwriter Mark Schultz's song "Letters From War" has made waves with more than just Schultz's loyal fans. The video, which features a WWII soldier stationed in Europe, has won at the 2003-2004 Department of Defense Visual Information Production Awards. "Letters From War" is part of the "Be Safe! Campaign" run by the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center.

Two members from the CRC, Sandra Riley and John Hooks, accepted the award for "Letters From War" at a ceremony held at the Pentagon. Speaking of the music video's impact, Hooks had this to say: "Our mission is to save soldiers lives through accident prevention programs and by helping soldiers make wise decisions. We knew the song and the video would have a powerful impact on soldiers, their families and citizens throughout this country."

"Letters From War" has also gained Schultz other nominations, including two nods at this year's Dove Awards for both the song and video (winners are announced in April). The powerful song is taken from Schultz current album "Stories & Songs", which features 11 tracks written and co-written by the singer.

Im not an american but the song was so universal that it transcends to every soldiers beyond all nationalities. Our world is so different now and all of us right now can rightfully call ourselves as soldiers who wants to go home and stay.
