Mars Volta Announce North American Jaunt

Published: 2005-03-08
Nouveau prog rockers The Mars Volta have finally announced tour plans for North America in support of their second full-length album "Frances The Mute". Things are set to kick off on April 22nd in San Diego, after the band returns home from a 6 day jaunt across the UK. Cedric Bixler Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Co. will hit a total of 15 cities as they make their way across the continent, finishing up in Minneapolis May 19th.

The Mars Volta has two Canadian cities lined up in their sights. Montreal and Toronto will receive the band mid-way through the North American swing, on May 12th and May 13th, respectively. Tickets for the Toronto show go on sale this Friday, March 11th (through Ticketmaster), with tickets for the Montreal gig becoming available the following day (through TicketPro).

Making listeners take notice all over again, The Mars Volta 77-minute epic "Frances The Mute" just hit shelves last week on March 1st. Creepy cover-art for the record was provided by the legendary Storm Thorgerson, who also gave the world the equally creepy "De-Loused In The Comatorium" cover-art.
